Aretha Franklin Released From Hospital

Soul diva Aretha Franklin has been released from hospital after having a "highly successful" surgery.

People magazine reported that the singer who she is battling pancreatic cancer returned home on Monday.

"I've been at home for almost three days now. My family and friends who brought me home are taking great care of me. I also have a private nurse who visits on a daily basis," she said in a statement.

"I'm hoping to be strong enough to go out and see the upcoming Sam Cooke play at the Music Hall in Downtown Detroit before January 2, as well as a performance of Dreamgirls at the FOX before it closes."

Her rep continued: "The Queen of Soul is in great spirits and very happy to be home where she will be resting in anticipation of spending the upcoming holiday season with her family."

It has been reported that Soul diva Aretha Franklin is currently battling cancer.

A relative of the singer told U.S Fox 2 News in Detroit that Franklin has the disease and that her family is very concerned about her health.

They added that the singer is doing "okay" and ask fans to keep the star in their prayers.

It is thought that Franklin is suffering from incurable pancreatic cancer.

Franklin underwent surgery last Thursday, however details of what she is suffering from have not be disclosed.

Prayer Vigil For Aretha Franklin

A prayer vigil was held in Detroit for Soul icon Aretha Franklin.

The AP, reported that Detroit city councilwoman JoAnn Watson organised a public prayer for the singer on Wednesday.

Franklin did not attend the vigil, but released a statement thanking the organisers.

The 68-year-old singer cancelled all her work commitments by doctor's orders until May due to an unspecified health issue.

Franklin is reportedly undergoing an undisclosed medical procedure on Thursday.
