Jessie J Hoping To Duet With Leona Lewis

UK singer/songwriter Jessie J has said that she is hoping to record a duet with X Factor winner Leona Lewis at some point in the future.

Jessie J told the Daily Record newspaper, "Leona and I want to do a duet together. I'm planning to write a Whitney-Mariah-style 'When You Believe' kind of song and release it next Christmas.

"I think Leona is incredible," the singer continued. "Her range is unreal but I feel we would complement each other."

Jessie J Collaborates With Devlin

UK singer/songwriter Jessie J has revealed that she has collaborated with up and coming rapper Devlin on her new single.

The singer, reportedly asked the Essex-born rapper to feature on the UK remix of single 'Price Tag'.

Jessie told The Sun newspaper: "Devlin and I kept crossing paths. I'm a huge fan of his work and he said he loved 'Price Tag'. A day later we were in the studio together."

Devlin added: "I saw her at an event before Christmas, we had a chat there and a day later we were in the studio working on the remix."

Jessie J releases her debut album Who You Are on March 22.

Jessie J Turned Away From UK Music Labels

UK singer/songwriter has revealed that she was turned away by major UK music labels before finding success in the US.

The Essex singer, who was signed to independent label Gut Records in London, admitted that she struggled to find support in the music industry when the label went bust shortly before she was due to release her first single.

She revealed to the Daily Record, "I was signed to Gut Records for two years and I wrote over 100 songs. My album was done and the single was ready to go then the label phoned me to say they had gone into liquidation."

"So I went round the UK labels trying to get signed. But they weren't interested. They said they didn't get it and didn't think they could work with me. A lot of girls were about to dominate the industry at the time and I felt I had missed my chance."

"But when someone slams a door in my face I try to find a bigger key or a chisel to try to break it down. I knew that wasn't the end of me, it was the beginning."

The 'Do It Like A Dude' star instead flew to the US and met with music mogul Clive Davis, who offered her a deal and urged UK labels to do the same.

She continued: "I flew to America as a songwriter to forget about all the crazy stuff that was going on.

"Within two days of the showcases in New York and LA, I found myself sitting with the head of every label in the US. There I was sitting with Clive Davis, who signed Whitney Houston and Janis Joplin.

"I signed and flew back to the UK, where everyone suddenly loved the idea of signing me. I got to choose and went to Island Records. I'm so thankful."

Tinchy Stryder has spoken nothing but good words about the breakthrough artist Jesse J, branding her music "fresh" and "exciting".

The rapper told The Mirror newspaper: "I never over-plan collaborations, if I'm in the studio and I hear something and think we can work on this, we can create something, that’s when it comes together."

"It needs to be someone I really respect and be into what they're doing. Right now it's producers that I'm into, I like will.i.am's style.

"I like what Jesse J is doing, she sounds real fresh and exciting. She's one of the people I'm into for 2011."

Jessie Wins Brit

Jessie J has won the 'Critic Choice Award 2011' at the Brits.

The singer was announce alongside The Vaccines and James Blake for the categories shortlist last week.

The prestigious award has been won by Ellie Goulding, Adele and Florence and The Machine.

"This is epic!" Jessie said of her win. "It has been a dream since I was a little girl to win a Brit. I can't believe it's happened!"

Jessie express her happiness on Twitter, writing: "Arghhhhh!!! Omg!!! I'm in shock and I'm tears!!!."

James Blake was the runner up while The Vaccines settled for third place.

Jessie J will perform at the Brits launch event on January 13. Watch the broadcast on ITV2 the following night.

Jessie J Hospitalised


UK singer/songwriter Jessie J has been hospitalised with a "severe virus".

BBC News reported that the singer was forced to postpone her biggest ever show at London's Scala last night.

Jessie J wrote on her Twitter to apologised to fans.

"I'm so sorry guys. I'm also gutted that tonight Is cancelled. I am very weak and in hospital resting.

"But I promise when its re booked it will be the best show you've ever seen :) Thank you for all your msg's. Means a lot xx"

Jessie J Wants Her Music To "Heal The World"


British singer Jessie J told BBC Newsbeat that she wants to "get respect" without being "another girl who sings on a well-known rapper's song".

"I wanted it to represent me, being 22-year-old women in the music industry today. The album has got rock, I rap, there are pop ballads, there's reggae... 'Do It Like A Dude' is like a club track.

"I suppose I wanted to take a risk and break the box a little bit. A true artist should be versatile. Some people might hate me, some people might love me.

"I will make mistakes, I will contradict myself, I will sing out of tune, I will mime sometimes because I have to, I will get sick, I will cancel shows - I'm human, I'm not a robot. That's what I want this album to say - I have flaws and I'm happy to expose them."

She continued,: "My mum and dad have both devoted their lives to saving other peoples' lives and I want to do [the] same.

"I want my music to save peoples' lives. And I won't stop. It sounds clichéd, but I want to heal the world."
